World Association of Public Employment Services
Mr. Hiroshi Moriyama, Japan
Members : 8
There is a considerable variety in the situation in the member countries of this region, with each country making progress at different stages of development. Since the World Congress 2006 (Quebec City), the respective countries achieved economic development at a relatively stable pace during 2006 and 2007. After the summer of 2008, however, the countries experienced general reduction in demand and supply in the wake of the global financial instability. Some countries also faced changes in the political situation within their countries. This necessitates each country to respond to the employment situation swiftly and appropriately while maintaining a global outlook.
In this context, we believe that sharing of information on member countries’ experiences and cases through WAPES is truly meaningful as it provides the opportunity for each country to review and improve its employment policies.
